Yeasayer was founded in 2005 in Brooklyn, NY by <a href="spotify:artist:5pMCcLhPil65XVA7x0rRO1" data-name="Anand Wilder">Anand Wilder</a> , Chris Keating and Ira Wolf Tuton. They released their first full length album <a href="spotify:album:6mVyKlhq3v2IHeksO38syx" data-name="All Hour Cymbals">All Hour Cymbals</a> to critical acclaim in October of 2007, and toured the world with fellow artists <a href="spotify:artist:0SwO7SWeDHJijQ3XNS7xEE" data-name="MGMT">MGMT</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:3vbKDsSS70ZX9D2OcvbZmS" data-name="Beck">Beck</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:0zprAu7NrzRehc0Q0Jc7mL" data-name="Man Man">Man Man</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:7hAolICGSgXJuM6DUpK5rp" data-name="Chairlift">Chairlift</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:5INjqkS1o8h1imAzPqGZBb" data-name="Tame Impala">Tame Impala</a> , and <a href="spotify:artist:6Una88NE23aRtaG9FWHK93" data-name="Suckers">Suckers</a> .
Yeasayer signed with Secretly Canadian in 2009 and recorded their follow up <a href="spotify:album:4OTfa7TIDrZjGKCDu8dUqG" data-name="Odd Blood">Odd Blood</a> at the country estate of <a href="spotify:artist:49y11DLMhm3E67OP0OxjSO" data-name="Jerry Marotta">Jerry Marotta</a> , the longtime drummer of <a href="spotify:artist:7C4sUpWGlTy7IANjruj02I" data-name="Peter Gabriel">Peter Gabriel</a> . The music videos for hit singles <a href="spotify:track:5IN6s1ESshNEs5cCKMGcfc" data-name="O.N.E.">O.N.E.</a> and <a href="spotify:track:4gmivt1Q8UbnQZMVHLH43v" data-name="Ambling Alp">Ambling Alp</a> further established the band as art rock impresarios with a distinct musical and artistic vision.
Their third album <a href="spotify:album:6QhI1rsGyjLkGzn1K6ALli" data-name="Fragrant World">Fragrant World</a> explored a more electronic sound palette, with masterful mixes by <a href="spotify:artist:1PXStuNqw9YDsim4EhMSq7" data-name="Dan Carey">Dan Carey</a>, and a world tour followed featuring a groundbreaking stage show with light sculptures by Casey Reas in collaboration with Aranda/Lasch.
Their fourth album <a href="spotify:album:3tKQ1QWgDNRuFQ66fBEv4Z" data-name="Amen &amp; Goodbye">Amen &amp; Goodbye</a> was co-produced with <a href="spotify:artist:5IKUWzjLaHlqiZPFywfUsm" data-name="Joey Waronker">Joey Waronker</a> and featured percussion by longtime <a href="spotify:artist:20vuBdFblWUo2FCOvUzusB" data-name="David Byrne">David Byrne</a> percussionist <a href="spotify:artist:2W9dlk8bbPOvp01nmoLfWo" data-name="Mauro Refosco">Mauro Refosco</a>.
A few months after their final album <a href="spotify:album:4QsIM9pEfdAE1kYKqbhJS5" data-name="Erotic Reruns">Erotic Reruns</a> was released the band called it quits, after 14 years of working together. In 2021 Chris Keating scored the soundtrack to feature film Body Brokers. That same year, <a href="spotify:artist:5pMCcLhPil65XVA7x0rRO1" data-name="Anand Wilder">Anand Wilder</a> signed to Last Gang Records, and released singles <a href="spotify:album:6fd1LCX7BMf2TmrhOYfD8r" data-name="Delirium Passes">Delirium Passes</a> and <a href="spotify:album:1W2Fo2YHDljnHnIjWlgWPQ" data-name="I Don’t Want Our Love To Become Routine">I Don’t Want Our Love To Become Routine</a>.
