Icelandic folk-pop duo Pascal Pinon (named for an early 20th century circus performer known as "the Two-Headed Mexican") formed in Reykjavík in 2009 around the talents of twin sisters <a href="spotify:artist:5PiCPZZtFf1Ojgsw9MHcwi">Jófrídur</a> and Ásthildur Ákadöttir. The pair, who had help in the early days from bandmates Halla and Kristín, crafts precious, quirky indie folk that has drawn comparisons to <a href="spotify:artist:5e1BZulIiYWPRm8yogwUYH">Tegan and Sara</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6hLIT4e0yUtIa8DXwst4mi">Seabear</a>. Pascal Pinon's eponymous debut, which was sung in both English and Icelandic, and recorded when the girls were just 14, arrived in December 2010. For their second album, the twins worked as a duo with producer Alex Sommers (<a href="spotify:artist:6UUrUCIZtQeOf8tC0WuzRy">Sigur Rós</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3khg8RDB6nMuw34w1IHS6Y">Jónsi</a>) and expanded their sound to create something just as enchanting as their debut, yet more accessible. Twosomeness was released by <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Morr+Music%22">Morr Music</a> in early 2013. After spending some time apart while Ásthildur studied music in Amsterdam and <a href="spotify:artist:5PiCPZZtFf1Ojgsw9MHcwi">Jófrídur</a> went on tour with her other band, <a href="spotify:artist:1Xl5hsislt88ijOD3EZsOY">Samaris</a>, the sisters reconvened for 2016's Sundur.
