Widely regarded as one of Europe’s most versatile guitarists, Paulo Morello has collaborated with icons like Randy Brecker, Leny Andrade, and Larry Coryell. Influenced by legends like Joe Pass, and Wes Montgomery Paulo’s distinctive melodic lines and expressive style have earned him international acclaim.
After graduating in Jazz Performance in Germany and New York, Paulo launched the celebrated “Bossa Nova Legends” project in Rio de Janeiro, touring with Johnny Alf and Grammy winner Leny Andrade at major festivals worldwide.
His career includes productions and tours with Jimmy Smith, Pat Martino, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira, Bob Mintzer, Ivan Lins, and more, as well as projects like "Night of Jazz Guitars" with Philip Catherine, Ulf Wakenius, and Larry Coryell. His acclaimed album Hammond Eggs - Back in the Pan (with Randy Brecker and Bob Mintzer) remains central to his repertoire. Paulo's Sambop with Lula Galvão highlights his love for Brazilian music.
Paulo also co-leads an acclaimed trio with Philip Catherine and Sven Faller, has released multiple albums, and continues to perform with projects like Bolero Berlin, Quadro Nuevo, and the duos with Lula Galvão or Ulf Wakenius.
Looking ahead, Paulo will release highly anticipated albums in 2025: a new Hammond Eggs record featuring Randy Brecker and a trio album with Mauro Martins and Sven Faller.
Alongside his prolific performance career, Paulo is Professor of Jazz Guitar and Artistic Director at the Jazz Institut Berlin.
