Jelle Paulusma, born November 26, 1965, in Sittard, is a notable Dutch songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. He rose to fame in the 1990s as the singer and guitarist of the band Daryll-Ann, active from 1988 to 2004, releasing seven albums. The band played notable festivals such as Pinkpop and Lowlands and toured extensively in Europe, performing alongside bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and The Verve. Despite positive critical reception, the band's commercial success was limited, leading to their breakup in 2004. After the band's breakup, Paulusma launched a solo career.
In 2014, Daryll-Ann reunited for a series of concerts, including performances at festivals like Best Kept Secret, reflecting the lasting impact and loyal fanbase they had cultivated over the years.
In 2024, Daryll-Ann announced a comeback, planning a new tour and album, called 'Spring' under Excelsior Recordings. Their first new single in two decades, "A Note About Time," was released on May 31, 2024.
Beyond his solo work, Paulusma has contributed music to international commercials and documentaries, including the European Stop Smoking campaign and films by Selfmade Films. He has explored various musical genres, collaborating with artists like Iain Matthews and performing with the Metropole Orkest. He has also been active in education and mentorship, teaching at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and offering songwriting workshops. Since 2016, Paulusma is a member of tribute band Her Majesty.
