Pavithra Chari is an accomplished vocalist, composer and playback singer. A student of Hindustani classical music, she has been a disciple of Smt. Shubha Mudgal since 2014. She is one half of the critically acclaimed music duo Shadow and Light, known for their original music blending genres of pop, jazz, Hindustani classical and electronica. Their work has earned significant recognition, including their original song Dua, featured in the Grammy nominated album Shuruaat with the Berkeley Indian Ensemble. She has sung in film in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada for composers AR Rahman, D. Imman, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Santhosh Narayanan. Pavithra is a Forbes 30 under 30 Asia fellow and a U.S. department of state alumna.
