pecq are producer and multi-instrumentalist duo Hannah Jacobs and Niko O'Brien, creating 'pop at its most exploratory' [Clash]. Formed in a Paris basement and now based in London, the pair are known for their innovative, kaleidoscopic sound world and have collaborated with the likes of Barry Can’t Swim, Sam Lee and Nuage.
The ever-evolving pair bring together a broad set of influences ‘traversing the blissful margins between indie-electronica, psychedelic ambiance and skittering electro-pop’ [DJ Mag]. pecq move through choppy dance beats, twisting alt-pop melodies and ghostly ambient daydreams, never settling, embracing experimentation in each new record. Crunchy drums slowly morph into glitchy samples, synth tones and soft piano come in and out of focus, sounds re-sampled and mangled through DIY studio equipment, woven together with Jakes’s arresting, ethereal vocal.
Their latest record ‘red moon, rare night’ received rave reviews from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio Top 40, DJ Mag, Selector Radio (One to Watch 2024), Apple Music, DIY and Wonderland.
