Born and raised in West Virginia, Philip Bowen makes music rooted in Appalachian tradition and shaped by honest storytelling. He began playing fiddle at age four, and that early foundation still defines his sound as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. His blend of folk, Americana, and roots music has helped him build an audience of more than 1.5 million listeners online.
Bowen has toured internationally and played rooms like The Bluebird Cafe and 3rd and Lindsley. He has appeared on NPR’s Mountain Stage, won TikTok’s Greatest Talent competition, and was a semifinalist on Season 18 of America’s Got Talent. In 2023, he shared the stage with Darius Rucker and released his debut album Old Kanawha.
In late 2025, Bowen released his follow-up album Appalachia Forever, a project that leans deeper into regional identity, reflection, and place. Alongside his solo work, he is a sought-after session player with hundreds of credits, including work with Noah Kahan, Zandi Holup, Jenna Paulette, Brandon Davis, Sam Barber, Vincent Mason, 49 Winchester, and Josiah and the Bonnevilles. With praise from Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, No Depression, The Bluegrass Situation, and Atwood Magazine, Bowen continues to carve out a space rooted in where he comes from and who he is.
