French band Pigalle, best known for its hit single "Dans la Sale du Bar-Tabac de la Rue des Martyrs," was one of <a href="spotify:artist:2GWPtXuKsmpKsWlNMoTXx8">François Hadji-Lazaro</a>'s two alternative outfits in the 80s. Less punk-oriented than its parallel project <a href="spotify:artist:7gUAB3cvO42nbKY0mulGVU">Les Garçons Bouchers</a>, Pigalle offered a warm mix of pop, rock, and traditional influences. "Hadji-Lazaro" ended Pigalle in the late '90s, after four studio albums (1986's Pigalle, 1990s Regards Affligés Sur la Morne et Pitoyable Existence de BenjaminTrembley, Personage Fâlot Mais ô Combien Attachant, 1993's Rire et Pleurer and 1997's Alors), and one live LP (1992's Pigallive).
