One evening Mark Jowett (Moev/Cinderpop) woke up and there was a man in a pin striped suit with a globular head looking at him. Mark couldn’t figure out if was a freaky stranger, a ghost, or one of his own musical personas exemplified.
Plain Mr. Smith explained he grew up in many places. He had dreams of making it BIG. He would travel the world and work hard and Big times would come. However the River of life got in the way and he keeps getting lost down tributaries of fantasy and folly. Will he ever make it back to the land of normalcy? Who's to say.
Absurdism combined with fear and desire roam through the lyrics like a confused idiot savant looking at a rainbow then falling into a viper pit.
Luckily, Plain Mister Smith has some friends who really helped him out, like Jordan Klassen and Jocelyn Price with their amazing voices , John Raham, drummer, Darren Parris, Bassist and Sophie Heppel, violinist, with Chris Perry mixing some of the tunes. Plain Mister Smith banged about with guitars and synths and cellos and weird sounds and pretty much did everything else because he can't really help it: like many musicians it's in his nature to get distracted and wrestle with his muse, almost to the death, at which point, like a phoenix it may possibly rise again dragging Plain Mister Smith along for the ride.
The rides are all these songs, Plain Mister Smith hopes you’ll come along too.
