Portal 27 is an alternative rock band that defies traditional boundaries, blending the raw energy of 90s and 2000s alt-rock with a modern, genre-defying sound. Formed in March 2024, the band is the brainchild of Cole (vocals and lyrics), Thomas (production, guitar, bass), and Scott (drums). What started as a single-song project between Cole and his cousin Scott quickly grew into something much bigger when Thomas joined, helping the trio create six songs that would become the foundation of Portal 27.
Cole’s musical journey began later in life—after high school, he found himself captivated by the music scene and relentlessly pursued his dream of creating. Though he didn’t grow up playing music, his passion for storytelling through song fuels every word he sings. Thomas, on the other hand, is a seasoned musician who’s been honing his craft since childhood. As a skilled producer and multi-instrumentalist, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the band. Scott, the heartbeat of Portal 27, has been a drummer his whole life. With years of experience as a top-tier sound engineer for festivals and venues, including Michigan’s famed Pine Knob Music Theatre, Scott brings precision and power to the rhythm section, making the drums a key component of the band’s identity.
