b. 1970, London, England. Malachi had been working within the UK reggae industry for several years although he did not make a significant impression until 1998. The singer set up his own Mount Arafat label that led to his critically acclaimed debut, Jah Light. The same year he settled with his family in Jamaica where he enjoyed a hit following the Jamaican release of ‘Jah Is Our Guide’. His success led to an association with Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell and the Exterminator crew. With Exterminator he released a series of hits including, ‘Fire It Is Blazing’, ‘Ready Fe Dem’ and ‘Love Jah’. In 1999, the singer enjoyed critical acclaim with predictions in Echoes and the Sunday Times for a promising career. The accurate predictions were confirmed with further hits, notably the classic ‘Watch Over Me’, which enjoyed a long stay on the Roots and Culture charts. The song was followed by the equally popular, ‘You Can’t Come In’, recorded during sessions for his eagerly anticipated follow-up album with Burrell.
