Puff Punch is a group of five friends consisting of Farisha Aqilah (Vocal/Synth), Rifqi Ramadhan (Guitar), Nabyl Rahardjo (Guitar), Miraj Al-Dzahabi (Bass Guitar) and Marco Hafiedz (Drums) who formed a garage (literally) pop band in Jakarta. They performed for the first time in a garage with an audience of familiar faces and quickly discovered their love for putting on an awkwardly charming show.
Shaped together before hitting their 20s and bonded by similar interests in music, with influences ranging from punk rock bands like The Ramones to bubblegum pop such as The Beach Boys and The Cardigans, they created the band's distinguished sound, described as a combination of fast-paced, sparky, noisy punk energy with sweet melodies described as "bratty music" or "bubblegrunge".
Their lyrics explore the unforeseen twists of life, the beauty in the mundane, the celebration of heartbreak and hardship, and other elements that they wouldn't have any other way.
In September 2020, Puff Punch released their first EP, <a href="spotify:album:5CMfG1iC3hX4IbEwPjLCEt" data-name="Can We Go Out Now?">Can We Go Out Now?</a> an ironic response to their days in quarantine, with the track <a href="spotify:track:4zyadvNzOp61PLVV1Zuahf" data-name="You're Annoying but I Love You">You're Annoying but I Love You</a> reaching over half a million streams. The EP gained a cult following that landed the band a chance to play at the Wales Goes Pop online festival in 2021. Their recent project is a collaboration with Greenpeace on a split EP, <a href="spotify:album:0WIU7w0fq1XlGt0NaYob4B" data-name="Brighter Days">Brighter Days</a> featuring <a href="spotify:artist:2EJI6a2OHumb4P5gtEJXBg" data-name="Lips!!">Lips!!</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0Mh5wMruCzJIMbeospsjyB" data-name="Milledenials">Milledenials</a> in 2022.
