QFX History
1992-2025 & Beyond
QFX the band was founded in the small town of Hawick on the Scottish Borders by music producer & song writer Kirk Turnbull in Feb of 1992. The Band quickly found a following in the Scottish Dance Music Scene throughout 1992 starting to play live at night clubs and music venues throughout Scotland and the Northeast of England. They found great support from Forth Radio DJ Legend Tom Wilson supporting the band's music on his Stepping Out Show. The Band's following grew very fast and they were soon performing 3 to 4 events a week as the UK Dance scene exploded. The media called it Rave, but this was not accurate since our music was so much more.
At the end of 1992 QFX had their 1st release on Falkirk-based record label DC10 records followed by the Phoebus EP on Shoop Records. Then, in 1993, QFX released The Virtual Reality EP on their own record label Epidemic Records. 1994 would see The Energy EP, which gained massive support from QFX fans. The band's 1st major single release would come in 1995 with the original mix of Freedom, which landed the band just outside the UK Top 40 (at 41) and number 5 in the Scottish Chart.
