Rainbow Body began in January 2026 as part of the inaugural Quoia Sessions, when Taylor Goldsmith, Griff Goldsmith, Rick Mitarotonda, Eric Krasno, Ross James and Adam MacDougall gathered in Topanga Canyon to spend time together and write a record. The setting was intentional, with the surrounding landscape and environment serving as part of the creative process from the outset.
A month later, the session continued in Northern Iceland, where the band recorded eight original songs at Flóki Studios, a former grocery co-op in the Fljót Valley near the Arctic Circle. Moving from Topanga to the isolation of Northern Iceland gave the group two very different environments in which to develop the music, with each place leaving its mark on the songs and the way they were written and recorded.
Rainbow Body’s music moves freely between psychedelic rock, Americana, soul, folk and open-ended improvisation, shaped by six musicians whose individual histories span Dawes, Goose, Soulive, Lettuce, Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band, Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Circles Around the Sun. The recordings also feature guest appearances from Oteil Burbridge and Nicki Bluhm.
At its core, Rainbow Body is built around songs, chemistry and the freedom to follow the music wherever it leads.
