Rakel is now performing in the Musical Who Wants to Be a Princess? at Tjarnarbíó Theatre, produced and written by Raddbandið and Sara Martí. Rakel composed the music with Stefán Örn. All the music will be out this spring!
Her next project is co-writing music and performing in the piece The Host with the Nordic Beasts at Dansehallerne in Copenhagen.
Rakel is best known for her role as Ms. Honey in Matilda the Musical and her performance in the Award winning Musical 9 Lives - Bubbi Morthens with the Reykjavík City Theatre and Room 4.1 by Kristján Ingimarsson Company at CPH Stage.
The music duo ÞAU has released two albums, "ÞAU taka Vestfirði" and "ÞAU taka Norðurland" that both include original songs by ÞAU with old Icelandic poetic lyrics; special focus on female poets. Third album is in the making!
Rakel is a singer with the rock band different Turns, she's the voice of the band's third album, "too asleep to hear the massive wind blow."
Rakel studied acting and singing at Iceland University of The Arts and Copenhagen’s Complete Vocal Institute. Rakel has also done some film work, e.g. playing the role of Lára in the feature film Sparrows (Þrestir) by Rúnar Rúnarsson and the role of Magga in Ferox (Falskur Fugl). She also appears in the TV series Fractures (Vitjanir) and The New Year's TV program broadcasted by RÚV from year 2018 to 2021.
