Recolte is a brand new trio from Helsinki, Finland. The band was started as a vision of multi-instrumentalist and singer Ville Hovatta, who wanted to create a band that plays "alternative rock without guitars". He wrote several songs and invited bassist Ville Veihola and drummer Miki Leskinen to join the band. Recolte's original sound falls somewhere between electronic rock/pop and hip-hop and they are also influenced by the modern lo-fi hip-hop scene. They use an unusual combination of live instruments, samples, synths, and arpeggiators in their soundscape. Their songs are influenced by other artists in the cross-roads of electronic and live instruments, such as Daft Punk, Moby, Gorillaz, Beck, DJ Shadow and Massive Attack. "These are no love songs," says songwriter Hovatta. The scarce lyrics talk about planet-wide issues like consumerism, hedonistic treadmill, militarization and lack of environmental awareness.
