Rena Jones is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and audio engineer whose music blends classical strings, modular synthesis, and immersive electronic production. "A polymath," praised by Echoes Radio for weaving “violin, cello, and synthesizers into the imagery of nature and philosophy,” Rena is best known for her signature ambient-electronic chamber sound.
Her music has been released on LOCI Records, Aleph Zero, 1320 Records, Liquid Sound Design, and her own label, Cartesian Binary Recordings. Three of her solo albums have been named among the Top 30 Albums of the Year on Echoes Radio PRX, and her 2024 collaboration with KiloWatts, Caesura, reached #2.
A classically trained string player and seasoned sound designer, Rena has composed for Dance Dance Revolution, created sound design for Adobe, Twisted Tools, and Keith McMillen Instruments, and contributed to the development of Pro Tools. Her distinctive strings appear on albums by Younger Brother (Simon Posford/Shpongle), Emancipator, STS9, edIT, Beats Antique, Sophie Barker, and J. Viewz, and she has performed internationally at festivals including Glade, Decibel Festival, Burning Man, Shambhala, Symbiosis, and Lightning in a Bottle.
Now residing in the Pacific Northwest, she continues to explore the intersection of acoustic warmth, electronic texture, and emotional storytelling through her studio and label Cartesian Binary.
