Rhodri Brooks is a Welsh multi-instrumentalist and composer whose work increasingly centres on the pedal steel guitar. Originally emerging through a run of exploratory solo releases in the 2010s, Brooks has since become known for his distinctive pedal steel playing, both as a collaborator and as a solo artist.

He first got hold of a pedal steel guitar shortly before the Covid lockdowns, using that period to immerse himself in the instrument. What began as an obsession has since become his primary musical voice, shaping a sound rooted in space, tone and restraint.

Alongside his own work, Brooks has recorded and toured internationally with artists including Gruff Rhys, Gia Margaret, Georgia Ruth, Vegas Water Taxi and Lowswimmer, and is a member of the band Melin Melyn. His playing has become a sought-after presence across indie, folk and experimental contexts.

In 2022 he released the solo album Chin Up, Chief under the name AhGeeBe, receiving widespread acclaim, end-of-year list mentions and BBC 6 Music support, with the initial run of vinyl selling out immediately.

Brooks has also composed for film, writing the score for the award-winning Welsh-language documentary Y Crwydryn, released in December 2025.
