Nkonzo Cele professionally known as Rocktea hails from a KwaZulu-Natal popular township situated in
Durban called KwaMashu. At his earliest age he relocated to a rural area situated north of Durban called,
KwaMaphumulo for a year to be instilled the ways of a young Zulu boy.

His musical influence comes from his brothers until he was introduced to a computerized production
software ‘Fruity Loops’. Rocktea through companions with vast knowledge of production at the time
taught him how to make beats through the software and excelled. Rocktea and his friends formed a
gqom music group called ‘Lasoulmates’ that quickly gained popularity in the streets of Durban and led
to being discovered by Mahoota who signed them as a duo with Kalawa Jazmee Records.

As a duo they released their multi-platinum selling single ‘Club Controller’ with Prince Kaybee, Zanda
Zakuza & TNS. They than released iStory with DJ Oskido & Busiswa and followed up with their last single
under the legendary label which was the melodic single called Remedy performed by Zameka.

Lasoulmates later signed to Universal Music South Africa where they released their debut EP ‘Book Of Mates’
and after the promotion of their project the duo decided to part ways and focus on solo careers. Launching
the brand Rocktea who is an Afro-Tech House Music producer with his highly anticipated project
‘Who Is Tiiye’
