Born in Havana, Cuba, Rolando Luna is one of the most celebrated Cuban pianists of his generation. A graduate of the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, he combines classical technique with Afro-Cuban rhythms and jazz improvisation.
At eighteen, he joined Omara Portuondo, legendary singer of the Buena Vista Social Club. In 2007, he won both the First Prize and Audience Award at the Montreux Jazz Piano Competition. Later, as pianist of the Buena Vista Social Club during their “Adiós” world tour (2015), he performed at the White House at the invitation of President Barack Obama.
Co-founder of the acclaimed Latin jazz ensemble El Comité, Rolando has contributed to more than 200 recordings and performed worldwide as a soloist and collaborator. He currently tours internationally with Constant Despres as part of the Duo Rolando & Constant, blending classical music and jazz with striking originality.
