Ryan Stotland started writing music in 2008 while working as macroeconomic researcher during the day and fiddling with chord progressions at night. Along with his band The Bull and The Bear, he released an album about the financial crisis called Recession Sessions that put a poetic and musical twist on the often dry topics of monetary policy and subprime lending. NPR Morning Edition described the album as one that best captured the times.

Ryan has now broadened his focus to include other topics such as Psychology, History and Law. Ryan is a prolific songwriter and researcher who often releases multiple albums per year on different topics. He has performed his music in theatres, auditoriums and classrooms around North America.
