Sage Crosby is an Arizona-based 23 year old college student studying neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, and emergency medicine. As a super nerd, it was only natural for them to write a song <a href="spotify:album:1U9d9YptRvn6G31C2MumVw" data-name="42">42</a> referencing a sci-fi book by Douglas Adams. Music was a big thing for Sage growing up, but now two different friend groups know them as two different things: the musician or the scientist. It’s always fun when they cross paths and someone mentions the music.
“Stay Aware” was inspired by events that shook Sage to the core. Two weeks after being told they might have a hemorrhagic brain cyst, (update: I do have one but it shrank on its own so it’s not an issue anymore!) Sage used an acoustic guitar track sent by their brother-in-law as a blank canvas for the melody and lyrics that would eventually become “Stay Aware.” In this song, Sage expands on the struggle of dissociation episodes—all while putting a grateful undertone for every opportunity to face struggles and find themself. Encouraging listeners to "stay aware," Sage lyrically utilizes all 5 senses in the effort to remain sane, calm, and grounded in the present— reliving the beautiful moments that collectively make up the journey of life.
Sage is excited to get back to performing live after the pandemic, though connecting with fans through various online means (such as Instagram @sagecrosby) has been quite an adventure. (swipe to the last picture)
