Sancho Meiso Chaya is the dub/experimental project of Shin Sasama, a former reggae enthusiast who later transitioned into electronic music and embarked on a solo career, performing and releasing music across various platforms.
In the 2000s, he was active in bands such as Cool Wise Man and Cultivator before launching his solo career as Sancho Meiso Chaya. Based in Tokyo, he has expanded his activities both domestically and internationally, performing at renowned festivals like Ozora Festival in Hungary, MoDem Festival in Croatia, and ZNA Gathering in Portugal. His presence continues to grow across Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
After releasing his first album as Sancho Meiso Chaya in 2016, he has followed up with multiple albums, singles, and contributions to various compilations. Throughout the 2020s, he has been actively releasing music on labels such as Boshke Beats, Sabi, Totem Traxx.
In addition to his solo work, he collaborated with Katsuya Sano in the 2010s as part of the duo Lo Hype, releasing music on labels like Ibadan Records. More recently, in the 2020s, he has been involved in various session projects such as Yuta Chaya, Chaya & Kojiro, and Sancho Meiso Chaya & Koyas, consistently releasing new material.
