SELVES is the moniker for singer-songwriter Geron Hoy’s new project with British producer
and songwriter Dave Thomas Junior. After enjoying careers as solo artists, the two decided
to explore what might happen if a Texan teamed up with a Brit to make music together. The
result is SELVES.
Geron’s lifelong wanderlust has taken him from his birthplace on the border of Mexico, to
such places as New Orleans, Arizona, Philadelphia and New York City, all the while gigging,
recording and honing his craft. Making his way slowly from South to North, his music has
been inspired by the diverse people, places and experiences that have shaped him and his
musical aesthetic. His roots run deep in Americana, folk, blues and country, and his assertive
guitar stylings and cathartic vocals make him immediately distinguishable. Whether live or in
the studio, he delivers raw, powerful performances with intensity and emotional abandon.
Lyrically, he gravitates towards storytelling and is drawn to themes of longing and loss, self-
reflection, transcendence and a yearning for deeper truths. SELVES marries Geron’s distinctive
Americana with Dave’s electric Brit-rock edge—the resulting sound from this unlikely marriage
of two very different musical sensibilities is the bedrock of SELVES.

of upstate New York and released in June of 2016.
