This San Francisco-based band, originally comprised of John "Milo" Pro and Aki Starr, blends Freestyle, Doo-wop, Dance, Latin, and R&B. Aki Starr, the son of Nicaraguan immigrants, was influenced by all the Doo-wop and Chicano classic oldies, as well as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. His partner, John "Milo" Pro, born in Texas, fell in love with Doo-wop and other traditional vocal sounds. They met in San Francisco while working in the same studio; realizing their voices harmonized well together, Pro and Starr began performing in clubs & venues nationwide. Their first single, the Freestyle classic "Treasure of My Heart," blew up & received play on radio stations and in dance clubs globally. It became their biggest Freestyle hit! Their follow-up single, "Daddy's Home", an acapella remake of the doo-wop classic by Shemp & The Limelites, blew up on radio and Billboard nationwide. It landed the duo a record deal with Warner Bros. They released their debut album, Anything You Want, in 1995. SF Spanish Fly has charted on Billboard with smash hits "Daddy's Home", "Crimson & Clover", "I Can See", and most recently, Aki Starr's hit "Voices In My Head", which charted on Billboard in 2019! John "Milo" Pro left the group in 2000. Since then, Aki Starr has continued to tour with SF Spanish Fly globally and has recently teamed up with Thump Records & East Side Story. Stay tuned for new music and video releases at the top of the year!
