Shii

Shii, an independent electronic music singer-songwriter and producer from Chengdu, is one of the most exciting voices in the Chinese independent music scene.

Her debut album, Floating Signifier, released in 2019 under Merrie Records (now part of Modernsky), was met with critical acclaim. Known for its alternative aesthetic, intellectual style, and live performances incorporating contemporary dance elements, Shii became a standout artist in the Chinese independent music landscape. In 2020, she released notable singles "Landscape" and "Maman" and participated in the British Council’s "Distant Dialogue" UK-China music exchange project, where she wrote and produced the song "Seeing Flowers."
In 2021, Shii released singles "Night Dive" and "Plush Hero," and most notably collaborated with Romy from The xx on a remix of "Lifetime," titled Shii’s Security Blanket Remix. This collaboration marked a major milestone in Shii's career, highlighting her growing influence in both the indie and electronic music scenes.

Her second studio album, Tears of Acquaintance 相识之泪, released in February 2025, reveals a more nuanced and expansive sound, with an intricate emotional depth and delicate, layered expressions. Blending elements of synth-pop and alternative electronic music, the album reflects Shii's growing musical spectrum, taking listeners on a journey through rich, evocative storytelling wrapped in analog warmth and experimental beats.
