Silicon is an electronic-oriented solo project by New Zealand-based musician and producer <a href="spotify:artist:2OOOSMQcWqKu4RpV9rckuQ">Kody Nielson</a>. <a href="spotify:artist:2OOOSMQcWqKu4RpV9rckuQ">Nielson</a> first came to prominence along with his brother Ruban (<a href="spotify:artist:1LeVJ5GPeYDOVUjxx1y7Rp">Unknown Mortal Orchestra</a>) as part of experimental guitar band <a href="spotify:artist:5ZBHHLHlb8otaBAjLF98hl">the Mint Chicks</a> in the early and mid-2000s, then later with his psych combo Opossum. Seeking a new direction for his solo material, the Auckland native began developing the dark retro-futurist electro-pop that would eventually become Silicon.
