Born in the picturesque city of Bergen on Norway's west coast, Sissel Kyrkjebø, often known simply as Sissel, began her musical journey at the age of 14 when she joined a television choir. Her big break came during the Interval Act of the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest, hosted in her hometown of Bergen, where her stunning performance captivated audiences far and wide.
Later that year, Sissel released her debut album, "Sissel", which catapulted her to national stardom and earned her the prestigious "Artist of the Year" award at the Norwegian Grammy Awards, Spellemannprisen. At just 18 years old, she released her first Christmas album, a timeless collection that cemented her as the "Voice of Christmas" in Norway and solidified her reputation as a national treasure.
