Skeematic

Skeem was born in the Philippines but grew up in Africa, surrounded by the diverse cultures and rhythms in Mauritania, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. His love for creativity led him to study film in Toronto, where he deepened his understanding of films and hip-hop. Now based in the Philippines, Skeem’s music reflects the vastness of his experiences. His beats blend soulful, jazzy samples with punchy drums, often paired with laid-back, atmospheric grooves, capturing the raw essence of hip-hop with a meditative, almost cinematic touch.

Skeem’s production is rooted in deep sampling, using Native Instruments Maschine, Ableton Live, and the Roland SP-404SX in his repertoire. His releases include instrumental projects on the indie German label Conjunct Recordings/S!X-Music. His self-released album Sound Therapy provides an introspective soundscape, combining earthy tones with dynamic, head-nodding rhythms. Skeem also produced the EP Leo Rising alongside Filipina rapper Peaceful Gemini, released through Sony Philippines. The project blends soulful vocals and intellectual raps over a tapestry of cosmic and profound beats. It garnered nominations for the 2023 Awit Awards.
