With the coastline of Southern Rhode Island as a formative backdrop, Smug Honey has been writing original music since 2018. The lineup consists of Sam McCarthy (Ben Sex), Luca Simeone (Robert Immaculate), George Richter (Goldman Sachs), and Kyle Takata (Max Beef), who all met at local public high schools. They graduated from open mics and talent shows and began loading into various venues around the Ocean State, bringing passion and energy into the live performance sphere. Their music is brought to life with three lead vocalists, as well as trumpet and saxophone performances from Simeone and Takata. Featuring danceable grooves, intimate ballads and complex compositions, their unique catalogue of original music has created a multi-generational audience in their home state. After releasing their debut EP “Bonds” in early 2020, the group turned to grammy nominated recording engineer Andrew Oedel to record their debut album "Still Losing Days", released in November 2022.
