Drawing inspiration from eclectic influences such as psych-rock, shoegaze, house, techno, and soundtracks, the evocative synth-pop duo Soft Metals is keyboardist/programmer Ian Hicks and singer Patricia Hall. The pair began working together in Portland, Oregon in early 2009 and became a romantic couple soon after. After signing to <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Captured+Tracks%22">Captured Tracks</a>, they released their debut EP The Cold World Melts in July 2010 and issued their self-titled full-length a year later. Soft Metals relocated to Los Angeles and returned with new music in 2013 in the form of their second album Lenses, which featured collaborations with Optimo's J.D.
