Formed by two students who studied classical music at the Conservatory of Dijon, SomethingALaMode -- or SALM -- turned to electro and techno after writing orchestral arrangements for Detroit DJ Jeff Mills. Featuring Thomas Roussel (violin, electronics) and Yannick Grandjean (cello, electronics), SomethingALaMode was born in 2006 when the duo were working for Mills, orchestrating his concert at the Pont du Gard. Three years later they made their debut on the Yellow Productions label with a self-titled album that included the single "Rondo Parisiano," featuring fashion designer/icon Karl Lagerfeld as narrator. In 2014 they returned with the album Endless Stairs along with the single "Toy Spark Gun," featuring Dan Black. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
