“‘wreck of me’ is both a true romance and a tragedy,” Sophie explains. “It’s about risking everything just to feel alive. It could be the worst idea ever, but you’re ready to turn your whole world upside down.”
The release marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sophie and the Giants. As the first single of this next phase, “wreck of me” sets the scene for her debut album, due in autumn 2027.
Taken from her forthcoming debut album "don’t fuck the dj, “wreck of me” is the first instalment in a real-life love story that unfolds across the record. The album charts Sophie’s journey of falling in love with her DJ and touring partner, from the first spark through to their marriage. Its title comes from a voicemail left by her manager on the eve of the first tour, warning her. The message ends with the words: “don’t fuck the dj.”
