SOULBURN rose in the mid‑’90s from the ashes of Asphyx. With Eric Daniels, Bob Bagchus and Wannes Gubbels, the band released Feeding On Angels in 1998, establishing themselves as masters of raw, doom‑laden black metal.
In 2014, the band regained strength with Daniels, Bagchus, Remco Kreft and Twan van Geel. The Suffocating Darkness and the monumental Earthless Pagan Spirit showcased their uncompromising force. The Carpe Noctem EP (2018) closed this era, after which Marc Verhaar replaced Bagchus, forming the band’s strongest and most consistent lineup yet.
During the turmoil of 2020, SOULBURN created NOA’S D’ARK, their most immersive and powerful album to date, a fierce plunge into blackened old‑school darkness with renewed intensity.
In 2024, the band signed with Testimony Records to release Quantifying Cosmic Doom in 2026. With this new album, they deliver their most unrestrained and authentic work to date. The record showcases a powerful fusion of songwriting and production that elevates their signature sound. The result is a piece of heavy art—at times raw in its beauty, at others dark and intensely possessed. Complementing the music is the stunning cover art crafted by Comaworx. It fits this album like a glove from hell, capturing the album’s scale and spirit in a single, haunting image. The cuts once carved are now deep enough for the light to get through, and for the blood to shine.
