Searching for the balance between the nostalgic sounds of the '80s and the modern pop sounds of today, South of Royal has found a unique voice among pop music. They’ve drawn comparisons to artists such as Atlas Genius, Mutemath, and Fitz and the Tantrums. Based out of Dallas, TX, what started as a few musicians playing at church together evolved into a pursuit of a new sound for the people who listened. Born out of this desire was their first project, Deliverance and Doubt (2017), a record about persevering through trial and trusting in more than what people see.
Since then, the band has released three singles in 2018 produced by Chad Copelin (SYML, Ben Rector, Andrew Belle), with their most recent song, The Future Is Yours, garnering over 1 million streams. With more songs in the pipeline with Copelin, 2019 promises to be an exciting year for the group.
