Spirits of Leo

Spirits of Leo is an ethereal post-punk band based in Brooklyn, NY. Beginning as the solo recording project of Ryan Santos Phillips, Spirits of Leo grew into a cathartic live act with the release of the band’s sophomore full-length Equinox in 2018. After a long pandemic-induced pause, the band returned with a new lineup and released their single “Patience” on April 1st, 2022 after signing with DC/LA-based record label à La Carte Records.

Delivering intimate vocals, chorused guitars and driving rhythms, Spirits of Leo is heavily inspired by early 4AD artists and late 70’s post-punk. Artists such as The Chameleons, The Cure and Cocteau Twins serve as primary influences for the band, while Spirits of Leo are frequently compared to contemporary artists such as Drab Majesty and Wild Nothing.

“Solaris” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album Gossamer Blue, slated to be released early this summer on à La Carte Records. “Solaris” will be releasing across streaming platforms on April 29, 2022.
