The group Srbče was founded in 2013 at the Holy Trinity Monastery in Bijele Vode, with the blessing of Elder Simon, with the intention of bringing the songs from his book The Monastic Prayer Rope to children and youth through music. The melodies were composed by Hieromonk Serafim Petković, who is also the founder and author of the group.
The group’s repertoire includes songs about Christ and many saints, as well as Elder Tadej and Patriarch Pavle. The regular members of Srbče are Fr. Serafim Petković (acoustic guitar and vocals), Branko Trijić (ukulele), Zoran Ivković (acoustic and bass guitar), and vocalists Nela Krgović and Željka Varagić. Both in the recordings and in concerts, various friends—our “Srbče”—often join us.
All members participate in arranging the songs. In addition to numerous appearances on radio and television, the group has held over 100 concerts throughout Serbia. They have also performed across many European countries, including Greece, England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the Republic of Srpska. One of their most significant performances was at the Minsk Philharmonic.
The idea of Srbče is that in every city there will be at least one “Srbče” who sings with us. Where words cannot reach, song can draw us closer. Through this work, we also provide material support to children in Serbia, in Kosovo, and wherever possible—while also helping our monastery in a small way.
