Starry Skies are a group who record and perform songs by songwriter Warren McIntyre, who lives in a small village near Glasgow.
Although a fluid line up of members - ‘anyone can be a starry sky’ - key members are John Rooney, Heather Phillips, Jen McKee, Sophie Pragnell and Warren. Following the devastating passing of their friend and latest member, Liam McCardle, in 2023 the band have been on sabbatical.
In 2023, Warren and James Kirk (Orange Juice) began writing songs together and are recording an album.
Upon their request, the first song (Iron Star) from the, as yet unnamed, group has been given to Germany’s Marina Records for release in Spring 2025.
Starry Skies:
• "among the finest of the current crop.” - Clash Magazine
• "inspired lyrics." - The Vinyl Directory (Washington DC)
• "perfect for all seasons." - Rough Trade Records
• “shimmering musicality, sweeping strings soar, creating a majestic grace.” - Fortitude
Starry Skies continue to have a growing fan base in France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Austria, Brazil and the USA despite their currently lack of activity.
