With over twenty years of relentless touring and recording, Steve Marriner has earned a reputation as one of Canada’s hardest-working and most talented musicians. Known as 'The Swiss Army Knife,' he is not only one of the world’s foremost blues harmonica players but also a versatile multi-instrumentalist, soulful singer, and creative record producer.
Since 2008, Marriner has been a co-founder, baritone guitarist, and lead singer of the acclaimed blues outfit MonkeyJunk, with whom he has won two Juno Awards (2012, 2018) for Blues Album of the Year. In 2010, MonkeyJunk became the first Canadian band to win a Blues Music Award in Memphis, Tennessee.
His 2021 solo album Hope Dies Last earned a Juno Award nomination in 2022. Recently, Marriner’s productions — Big Dave McLean’s This Old Life and David Gogo’s YEAH! — were nominated for Blues Album of the Year at the 2025 Juno Awards.
As a performer, Marriner has shared the stage with legends across blues, rock, and folk. In blues, he’s played with Buddy Guy, Pinetop Perkins, Sam Myers, and more. His rock collaborations include Colin James and Big Sugar, while his folk connections have led him to perform with Harry Manx, Blue Rodeo, and Serena Ryder.
Today, Marriner continues to expand his musical boundaries, blending a wide range of influences to showcase his versatility as a musician, songwriter, and producer. He is set to release his latest album, Hear My Heart, in 2025 via Cordova Bay Records.
