Stro Elliot became the primary alias of Brian Roberson, a rapper/producer alternately known as Stro the 89th Key and simply Stro. Roberson is a founding member of the Procussions, an underground group that, prior to the release of their 2003 full-length debut, relocated from their native Colorado Springs to Los Angeles. Since then, Roberson has remained based out of the West Coast, where he has continued to work with the sporadically active Procussions while releasing solo material and granting productions -- typified by a smooth synthesis of samples and original instrumentation -- to fellow artists. Amid numerous stray tracks, Roberson has self-released Stro's Old Beat Farm, a collection of circa 2004-2010 instrumentals released in 2011, as well as a self-titled 2016 album for House Shoes' Street Corner Music label. Phonte's "Sendin My Love," Mr. J. Medeiros' "Pale Blue Dot," Eric Roberson and Phonte's "Waiting 4 Ya," and an interlude for The Hamilton Mixtape are among his commissioned works. He has also taken part in DJ Jazzy Jeff's Playlist retreats, including the session that yielded the album Chasing Goosebumps (2017). ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
