Surfliner formed in 2017 in Duxbury, Massachusetts, when friends Tyler Wyatt and Sam Worley began recording dreamy, coastal-tinged surf rock demos. After adding John Carlson (bass) and Sam's brother Harry Worley (keys/trumpet), plus saxophonist Aidan Hobbs for live gigs, they moved to NYC, where their debut album Kiska (2018) earned them sets at Mercury Lounge, The Bitter End, and Bowery Electric.

The band’s NYC run ended with the pandemic. Stripped back to Wyatt, Worley, and Carlson, they retreated to a beach cottage and recorded Psychic Blues (2020), a moodier, more introspective follow-up. Around this time, they collaborated with Wendy Lane (Gigi Perez, Coco Mendez, Aidan Hobbs) on the single “Vertigo.”

Surfliner continued gigging sporadically, but by 2025 the project reached a natural close. Their short but rich run left behind a sound both nostalgic and expansive—shaped by city adventures, coastal solitude and deep friendship.
