Bass Tareq Nazmi gathered first stage experience at the Bavarian State Opera’s Opera Studio and later on, joined the Opera ́s ensemble where he sang various roles including Masetto, Speaker, Truffaldino, Publio or Osman in Les Indes galantes.
In the past season he made his role debut as Filippo (Don Carlo) at Theater St. Gallen, starred in a concert tour with concerts in Lucerne, Milan, Hamburg, Athens, Vienna and Brussels under the baton of Teodor Currentzis in Verdi ́s Messa da Requiem, in Beethoven ́s Missa Solemnis conducted by Kirill Petrenko in Munich and in a recital with pianist Gerold Huber at London ́s Wigmore Hall. Highlights of previous seasons include Bottom in Britten ́s A Midsummer Night ́s Dream in a Damiano Michieletto production at Theater an der Wien or Speaker in
Mozart ́s Magic Flute at the Salzburg Festival with Constantinos Carydis
conducting.
In the 2019/20 sees Tareq debut as Colline at the Metropolitan Opera and perform in a new staging of Beethoven ́s Fidelio by Mateja Koležnik at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus with Kirill Petrenko conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. On the concert stage he will appear under Manfred Honeck in Haydn ́s The
Creation with Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, tour the US and Europe with Beethoven ́s 9th Symphony under Sir John Eliot Gardiner and sing in Schumann ́s Scenes from Goethe ́s Faust at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
