Fusing classic soundtrack music with hip-hop like his U.S. counterpart Adrian Younge, U.K. singer, producer, and filmmaker Jeymes Samuel uses the moniker the Bullitts for his unclassifiable music. He was a filmmaker first, having shot his first reels at the age of 8, but he began making music at the age of 17, messing around with house music initially, and releasing his 12" "When It Rains" under his own name on the Giant Steps label. His 2006 album The Prequel was based in hip-hop and released on Little League, a label that would debut his Bullitts project in 2007 with a single of "The Bullitts Theme." Named in honor of the Steve McQueen film Bullitt, the project began uploading a series of "FlixTapes" videos to the Internet in 2010 with Samuel adding new vocals to his favorite movie and television themes. In 2011, he released the single "Close Your Eyes" which featured the surprising guest list of actress Lucy Liu and rapper Jay Electronica. The single "Supercool" followed later in the year with the debut Bullitts album, They Die by Dawn & Other Short Stories, arriving in summer of 2013. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
