The Communards were a dynamic British synth-pop duo that blended infectious melodies with socially conscious lyrics, becoming one of the defining acts of the mid-1980s. Formed in 1985 by Jimmy Somerville, after leaving Bronski Beat, and multi-instrumentalist Richard Coles, the duo quickly made their mark with their unique fusion of pop, disco, and hi-NRG dance music.
