Composed of the echoes of sonic renaissance from the 90s, The Contradictions have been bringing Grunge back into Memphis since the band’s formation. With influence from Queens of the Stone Age, The Foo Fighters, Alice and Chains, Metallica, and Soundgarden, the band has formed an emotional and heavy sound that rebirths the rebellious themes of “Our parents’” generation. The Post-Grunge alternative band formed on June 15th, 2023. The Contradictions came together on the first practice and wrote their very first track, Peak Condition. Originally only composed of drums, guitar, and bass, the band was hungry for a voice to contain the loud, booming waves of music. A week after its conception, The Contradictions found its voice, Homer Beaudoin. The band soon followed with Falling Out, a culmination of guitarist Haris Farooq’s virtuosity and Homer’s knack for storytelling. As the summer of 2023 rounded out, Haris and Eddie birthed “Awake” out of a jam session. Tony Vieira, the band’s skilled 5 string bassist, swiftly came up with an upbeat bassline that flowed with the pulsation in Eddie’s fast tempo hi-hat groove. The band then hit the studio at Shelby Foote, a studio owned by Jeff Sorenson. They have been hard at work coming up with unique and passionate songs and have gathered many fans who also enjoy the emotional versing and animate performances that come with their shows. The Contradictions continue to work to revive the powerful songs and sentiments of the Grunge Era.
