The Cover-Ups, an all-girl 8-piece ska/reggae/rocksteady band from Los Angeles, were active from 1998 to 2000. The concept originated from a conversation between Mini and Cris, who both knew several women musicians. The lineup was completed after weeks of searching for the remaining members.
They played many shows in the booming LA ska scene, and toured throughout California. The group disbanded in 2000 after performing at the Anaheim Warped Tour. In 2012, The Cover-Ups reunited with a modified lineup, playing two shows in 2013: one at LA's Grand Star in Chinatown and another opening for Hepcat at Slim's in San Francisco.
In 1999, The Cover-Ups recorded a 6-song demo of original songs with Brian Dixon at Signet Sound in Hollywood, which the band released on handmade cassettes and CDs. Now, 25 years later, The Cover-Ups are digitally releasing their demo EP, remastered by Brian Wallace, free on all streaming platforms and available for purchase on Bandcamp. They're also releasing a limited edition two-song 7" 45 record on pink vinyl through Steady Beat Records.
