The GROOVE PROJECT is a star studded Contemporary / Smooth Jazz supergroup formed in Studio City, California in 2016 by GRAMMY® Award nominated Artist & Producer ARUN SHENOY
The original lineup released a debut concept jazz-funk album titled A STAGEY BANK AFFAIR in the same year. The record was chosen as Album of the Year by Jazziz Magazine’s Critics Pick and dubbed “an explosive, exotic, jazz-funk-rock-barn burner” by noted American journalist and reviewer, Jonathan Widran.
The lineup was shuffled was in 2019 by Shenoy and the band released their sophomore album VOLUME 1: FLIGHTS OF FANTASY in 2020, a concept album about man’s fascination with flight.
The lineup was shuffled yet again in 2020 by Shenoy and the band has released VOLUME 2: THE WINDS OF CHANGE in 2021, another concept album about man’s quest to chart the seven seas.
Notable members and special guests of the band include current and former Dream Theater keyboardists Jordan Rudess and Derek Sherinian, GRAMMY Award winning saxophonist Jeff Coffin from the Dave Matthew Band, keyboardist Adam Holzman best known for his long association with Miles Davis, Weird “Al” Yankovic guitarist and GRAMMY Winner Jim Kimo West, GRAMMY Award nominated arranger Don Hart, and acclaimed Jazz pianists Fahir Atakogu and Ed Roth.
Producer and remix artist Melloe D has also been working on a fusion of the band's jazz catalog with hip hop music in the style of Jazz rap (or jazz hip hop) with the musical aesthetics of Lo-Fi.
