Sister of the Sun represents a new beginning for The Hanging Stars. This is the first taste of their collaboration with longtime pal Gerry Love (Teenage Fanclub/Lightships) on production duties, alongside trusted ally and collaborator Sean Read.
After an intense and successful string of tours following the critically acclaimed album “On a Golden Shore” in 2024, the four piece consisting of Richard Olson (guitar/vocals), Paulie Cobra (drums/vocals), Paul Milne (bass/vocals) and Patrick Ralla (guitars/keys/vocals) made the long journey north to start work on their 6th album at Edwyn Collins’ Clashnarrow Studios in Helmsdale, Scotland.
The partnership with Love proved transformative. His instinctive touch can be felt in every detail of Sister of the Sun – from the cascading twelve-string textures to the soaring four-part harmonies – creating a rush of luminous, cosmic joy.
Venturing deeper into their signature Cosmic Folk Rock sound, The Hanging Stars deliver a track that has all the shimmer of their earlier work but with a touch of freshness evident from this new creative partnership. It offers a clear glimpse of where The Hanging Stars are headed, with their sixth album due in the first half of 2026. So open your curtains, press play and let the sunshine in.
