The Last Electro-Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble first appeared in 2007 on enigmatic and prolific producer Madlib's label as Yesterdays New Quintet, with their landmark album Yesterdays Universe. The album featured Madlib producing a new, forward melange of music under the guise of a collection of new groups all created by Madlib, including "The Jazzistics," "Young Jazz Rebels," "Jackson Conti," "Suntouch," "The Jahari Massamba Unit," "Kamala Walker & the Soul Tribe, and "the Yesterdays Universe All-Stars," "the Otis Jackson, Jr. Trio,," and the Eddie Prince Fusion Band. The Last Electro-Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble's particular sound features groove-heavy songs, which often quickly branch off into codas. In 2010, the Ensemble released Miles Away, an album of songs each dedicated to various jazz greats including Horace Tapscott and organist Larry Young. ~ Vincent Thomas, Rovi
