Drawing inspiration from late-'60s psychedelia and mid-'90s pop underground acts like <a href="spotify:artist:2idymNTKUdnTxforkb12Mw">Matthew Sweet</a>, Australia's Lovetones formed in the early 2000s with Matthew J. Tow, Matthew Sigley, Serge Luca, and Chris Cobb. Having generated a considerable buzz with their 2002 Bomp debut, Be What You Want, the band went on to tour and eventually collaborate with <a href="spotify:artist:30uiS1n3uIGXJEYFR1GVDy">the Brian Jonestown Massacre</a>. After three jam-packed years of touring, during which time the band managed to release the Stars EP and record several tracks with <a href="spotify:artist:30uiS1n3uIGXJEYFR1GVDy">the BJM</a>, the Lovetones' sophomore album, Meditations, was released on Tee Pee.
